The Wisdom

"Wisdom" (*al-hikmah*) is the ability to perceive things as they truly are and to act upon them correctly; it is a light rooted in faith and certainty—reflecting the words of the Almighty in Surah Al-Baqarah (Verse 269). It is the faculty of reason that guides a person toward what is right in both speech and action. The plural form is *hikam* (maxims or aphorisms); wisdom represents the distillation of experience, knowledge, and reason, aiming to attain the truth and avoid error. It has also been said: "Wisdom is the lost property of the believer; wherever he finds it, he is most entitled to it."
